Classes & roster
How classes work, and why tagging a graded run is what unlocks the rest of the tools.
A class holds your students and their growing mastery record. Grading itself doesn't need a class, but tagging a graded run into one is what powers Practice, Parent Reports, Progress Reports, Quiz, and the Class Deep-Dive. That record is the part that compounds over time.
How to set up a class
- Easiest: after grading, tag the run to a class from your dashboard. We create the class and seed its roster from the student names on the papers.
- Or open the class page and add students by hand.
- Set the class's grade level and subject so the AI pitches content at the right level.
Good to know
- Two students with the same first name in two classes are two separate records, by design.
- Every paper you grade and tag thickens that class's concept-mastery map.
"Grade Coach isn't just faster, it remembers." The class record is that memory: each tool reads from it, and each graded run makes it sharper.
