Classes & roster

How classes work, and why tagging a graded run is what unlocks the rest of the tools.

A class holds your students and their growing mastery record. Grading itself doesn't need a class, but tagging a graded run into one is what powers Practice, Parent Reports, Progress Reports, Quiz, and the Class Deep-Dive. That record is the part that compounds over time.

How to set up a class

  1. Easiest: after grading, tag the run to a class from your dashboard. We create the class and seed its roster from the student names on the papers.
  2. Or open the class page and add students by hand.
  3. Set the class's grade level and subject so the AI pitches content at the right level.

Good to know

  • Two students with the same first name in two classes are two separate records, by design.
  • Every paper you grade and tag thickens that class's concept-mastery map.
"Grade Coach isn't just faster, it remembers." The class record is that memory: each tool reads from it, and each graded run makes it sharper.
